Struggles

It's good to struggle sometimes, right?  Please remind me about how it makes you stronger and builds character and all of that. Tell me that cliched story about how you can't help a chick hatch from it's shell because it needs to do it all by itself to survive.  Something.  I wrote a while back about living life without the safety net of credit cards.  Yeah, we've lost a job since then.  And started a new one (thank heavens).  Made repairs to our van and paid hefty medical bills.  This struggling seems to be our lot in life, at least for the time being.  It's OK.  I'm learning to just sit into it. Roll around in it. Make friends with it.  (Though I would just as gladly do those things in a big old pile of money.  Just sayin'.)  We have our home, our health, and we ate dinner tonight so what do I really have  to complain about, right?  Right?

(Mom and dad, Don and Ann -- We eat dinner every night.  Your grandchildren are fine!)

  1. You are so right. It seems as if you have the right attitude towards your situation.
Success = making it work with what you have...in my book atleast. If you can push through the struggle and come out on top without giving underway, then you're doing a great job!!! Keep up the postive attitude. Just make sure you know that struggle is the only way that we grow, just like you said. I believe that it takes a lazy one to allow things to go completely wrong...I'm sure you're far from that. Stay strong and focused and you'll be ok.

  2. Wow you and me both! Sounds like we are in the same place right now! My mantra for right now is "you can't bring money with you". Like you said we have eachother, a house, food, the necessities! Big hugs!!!

  3. Some things that come to mind are the Lord's prayer says "give us THIS day our daily bread" our pastor told us recently that then, the money made Monday paid for Tuesday's meals, that we need to remember that no matter how we think, our lives are a daily blessing, a daily gift from the One who loves, provides for, and keeps an eye on us better than the lillies of the field and the sparrows that may fall...He is Jehovah Jireh ( I think/hope that's spelled right) Our Lord who provides...it gives me comfort to know that what little I have in my name, it is what my loving heavenly Father has metered out to me, with purpose, for that day. My son is learning Matthew 6:20-21 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. I hope you understand I am not preaching at you, these are just things that He has shown me in the past. : )

  4. Oh, if you're preaching, you're preaching to the choir. Amen to ALL of that!! Thanks for the encouraging words!

  5. It's nice reading that someone else is surviving in the same situation that my husband and I have been in for about a year and a half (when I lost my job). I am so thankful that God has provided. We've made money stretch farther than I knew I could. Bills are paid, we still have our house, and we eat 3 meals a day. It could be MUCH worse! I try to remind my husband of that often since he tends to panic about our situation often.

  6. It is a place for prayer - and I think we underestimate what a blessing it is to pray.
