Day 14: Flip-Flop Refashion
Welcome back for the 14th project! We're nearly half-way done. I can't believe how fast this month is flying by! Today's project was a no-brainer for me to choose. Here in Arizona we {at least I} wear flip-flops year round and I am always looking for cute ones. But let's be honest -- flip-flops are flip-flops. I'm not gonna' shell out a lotta' cash for them. The "Knot So Hard" flip flops from Destri at The Mother Huddle are very cute. I had some flip flops that I got for $1 and some cute Amy Butler fabric so I gave that project a try. Here is the result:
Cute and casual. Pretty enough, I guess, but I had my heart set on those ruffly ones. I studied the picture and set out to re-create the idea as best I could with some silver double-faced satin ribbon in my stash. Those ones turned out EXACTLY how I had hoped {though not like the original}:
Alas, I can't tell you how they came to be. It was a whole lotta' trial and error. Pinching and stitching and gluing and pressing. And maybe some mild cursing. Because I love you all {and because I still want to make those other ones in the original pin} I did some investigating and found the tutorial at Make It and Love It. Now I need to get another pair of flip flops! In the mean time, I'll share a handy pantry organizing project with you tomorrow. Have a great day!
