Mother's Day Gift Ideas: Printable Notecards

I love getting cards in the mail.  It's pretty rare nowadays to open the mail box and find anything other than bills or advertisements.  I am really trying to send nice mail to people more often. That's why today's gift idea is a set of cute printable note cards.  You can either use them to write nice notes of appreciation and encouragement to your mom friends are make up a set of note cards and envelopes to give as a gift along with a pretty pen.

I started out looking for an inspirational, heartwarming quote about motherhood that I could design around, but the ones I found that really struck a chord with me were these more humorous ones.

A suburban mother's role is to deliver her children obstetrically once, and by car forever after. --Peter De Vries
There is only one beautiful child in the world, and every mother has it. -- Chinese Proverb
The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents.
-- John J Plomp
Children are a great comfort in your old age - and they help you reach it faster, too. -- Lionel Kauffman

Aren't they fun?!  I found vintage photos {my favorite!} to go with each one and a project was born.  You can have them printed as note cards from many online photo sites  {like Snapfish} or at the Costco photo center, but it looks like you can only use 1 image for each set of twelve note cards.  If you wanted to make a lot that would probably be fine.

Another option is to use Black River Imaging. I had my business cards printed there and they did a fantastic job.  Their minimum order per card design is 6 at $1.55 per card.  That means if you printed 6 of each design you could make three sets of 8 cards {including envelopes} for about $12 per set.  That's not too shabby and if they're anything like the business cards I got they will be really high quality cards, I promise.

The most cost effective option is to have them color printed onto card stock.  You could do it on your home printer, but for the best quality I suggest having it done somewhere like Staples print center.  You'll get 2 cards per sheet which ends up being about 50 cents per card.  Then you just have to cut them out and fold them yourself and buy a pack of matching envelopes.  That's what I did for these pictures and they turned out great.

I don't think you can go wrong whatever option you choose!  If you would like to make your own, simply download the images below and upload them to the printing site you choose.  {Click on the image and enlarge it to full size then right click and save to your computer.}
