Scripture Post-Its

Hi guys!  Over the past couple of years my Scripture Post-its have been among the most popular printables on the blog.  I am so excited that so many people are finding them helpful, but I feel like I owe everyone a HUGE apology.  As is so often the case in my life, I was super excited and got the first half of the Book of Mormon done relatively quickly . . . aaaaand theeeen . . . I fizzled out.  Other projects became priorities and this one got put on the back burner.  Eventually it fell off the figurative stove entirely.

Aaaaand theeeen . . . the images and links to download the pages mysteriously disappeared from my blog so y'all couldn't even download the ones I had made.  And in trying to fix that issue I realized I had lost about half of the pages I made when our computer crashed last year, so it has taken me some time to get everything up and running again.  Now that I'm back to square one, I'm repenting and committing to complete this project by the end of the year {or shortly thereafter...}.

For those of you who are stumbling upon Scripture Post-its

for the first time, Welcome!

Scripture Post-Its are pages of quotes, mostly from the LDS Institute Book of Mormon manual, that can be printed onto post-it notes and stuck in your scriptures.  Years ago I started making these post-its to enhance my scripture study. As I studied the Book of Mormon throughout the week I would mark the quotes in the Institute manual that I want to have in my scriptures to clarify or expand on doctrine and then I would sit down Sunday evening to type them all up.  It may be a little dorky, I'll admit, but I LOVE my giant scriptures, all chock-full of information. I got teased a little {in a good-natured manner, of course} in ward council once when I whipped out my GIANT Book of Mormon to share a spiritual thought.  That's OK.  I know everyone is just jealous.  Whatevs.

Here are a few sample pages:

It's interesting for me to see the evolution of the project here.  At first I was much more concerned with making them pretty.  Later on, my focus was more on the information.  Then I went through a drop-cap phase, which, I have to say, I still love. Anyway . . . A few pages do not have specific scripture references at the top of each quote, but the majority do.  I was learning as I went -- sorry! (In fact, the first page's quotes do not coordinate with any verses in particular -- they were just interesting quotes.  Use the topical guide to place them wherever you feel they fit best.)

All the pages are available to DOWNLOAD HERE from my Dropbox -- either individually or as a whole.

Printing Scripture Post-its:

Printing the Scripture Post-its is a little bit of a chore because you have to set up each page individually.  It's not difficult, but it will take some time.  First you will need to download and print the blank template.  Stick a post-it note in the center of each square of the template:

Then feed the page into your printer following the direction on the template.  After printing each sheet, you will need to peel the post-its off, place them in your scriptures, and set the template up again.

There are also a couple of pages of smaller quotes designed to print on the 1 3/8 x 1 7/8" size Post-its along with a template for printing.

Placement of Scripture Post-its:

You will note that some of the quotes were too long to fit on one note.  In those cases the post-its have been designed to stick together as you see here:

I tried to place each note in my scriptures near the verse it references -- usually in the margins or over the foot notes. Some of the notes need to be folded under to fit better:

Do whatever makes sense for you.  You can always move them if you need to.  That's the beauty of using Post-it notes, right?

As I make more, I'll continue to put them into my drop box. If you follow along on Facebook, I'll give a shout-out there whenever there are new ones available.   I hope that these will enhance your scripture study as much as they have mine.

Have a great day, friends!

Amy

  3. Thank you so much for sharing. I just wanted to add that if the post it notes stop being sticky, instead of discarding and reprinting, just use Scotch Removable tape. It's sticky note tape on a roll! Test it out first to make sure it does not lift the ink from the bible.

  6. Amy,
These are absolutely AMAZING! I am just starting reading a new the book of Mormon, and I think that this has been perfect timing to find you and your site! This time through, I am going to use your post-it notes as my reading guide. HOW FUN!
Thank you so much for sharing your talents.
One HUGE request.... Do you happen to have an 'editable' template of your quote pages? One that I can add my own favorite quotes too, and then print them out the same way? That would be so awesome. Thanks again!
