Top 5 Tips for Hosting a Memorable Outdoor Party this Spring at
Hi guys!  We are super excited that our oldest daughter is graduating from high school in a few weeks, so we are planning to celebrate with a dinner for family and friends.   Our house it too small to accommodate  all the special people she'd like to invite, so the natural solution is to use our outdoor space as well!  We had a small outdoor luncheon the other day as a trial-run before the big day.  I've been teasing you on Instagram and Facebook with photos for the past little while. Today I'm finally gonna' spill the beans and share my Top 5 Tips for memorable outdoor entertaining.

1.  Make sure your yard is "on fleek".
{That's what the youths are saying these days, right?}

In preparation for an outdoor get-together, it's suuuuuper important to step up your grass game.  While I'm sure any friends who are worth their salt will be excited to celebrate with you anytime, anywhere, you want to make a good impression, right?  I wouldn't host a dinner party inside my house without at least straightening up and vacuuming.  Outdoor entertaining is no different.  With Scotts® Green MAX™ Lawn Food and the WIZZ™ Spreader you can have a lush, green lawn as the perfect backdrop for anything you dream up!  My "pro yard team" loved how easy it was to operate the battery powered WIZZ spreader, making yard work a breeze. {And even almost -- dare I say -- fun!}  I love how pretty the grass looks after being fed with Green MAX.

You and your friends are always ready to party.  With a little planning and effort, your yard can be party-ready all season long as well!

2. Light it up.

If your party is going to begin in the evening {and hopefully run into the night!}, you need to think about how everyone is going to see each other.  Luckily, outdoor lighting options are plentiful these days.  Even if you have good outdoor lighting in place, stringing some lights overhead will add a ton of ambience.

3. Bring the inside out.

Don't be afraid to pull out the "real" furniture and "good dishes".  I love a casual picnic or barbeque on paper plates as much as the next gal, but for a special occasion it can be fun to do the unexpected and set a little more dressed-up scene for your company.  When we got a new dining set, we held onto our old table and chairs "just in case".   They really come in handy once in a while when we want to feed a few extra people.  Folding tables can be disguised and dressed up with nice tablecloths and chairs from a local rental place.  Doing a quick search, I found some nice white chairs for under $2 a piece that would be perfect for our graduation party when we need more than just a few extra seats.  Setting your table with actual dishes and flatware from your kitchen and using cloth napkins adds an extra-special touch.  You can always find plain white dishes inexpensively at the thrift store for an eclectic, but coordinated look.

4. Add flowers.

Whether it's a fun pop of color in a border, a planter full of pretties on the deck, or cut blooms on the table, flowers make any event feel a little more special.  This old soup tureen made the perfect "vase" for my snap dragon and ranunculus arrangement.  You can get such great flowers at your local grocery store these days, there's no excuse to skip this step!

These floral napkin rings were made with inexpensive fake flowers and -- believe it or not -- a $1 pack of plastic shower curtain rings!

5.  Coordination, Coordination, Coordination.

Party Printables -- including invitations, water bottle wrappers, cupcake toppers, etc. -- are a really easy way to give any party a cohesive look from start to finish.  A simple google search for "party printables"  will result in hundreds of adorable choices to fit any possible theme.  I designed the ones you see here for my little sister's baby shower, but they work equally well for a spring luncheon.  {Download them here.}

Pretty much everything you need for yard prep and outdoor entertaining can be purchased at Walmart.  I got almost everything you see in this post {including the ingredients for the cupcakes and the cute checkered tablecloth} in one Walmart stop on my way home from work, so there are no excuses my busy friends.  Get your yard ready to party this spring with a little help from Scotts and Walmart!  Looking for specific information for how Scotts® Green MAX™ Lawn Food can help solve your lawn problems?
