Hello, friends! Over the weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 18th anniversary. It is unbelievable to me that we have been together for so long. I still feel like a kid! It feels like just yesterday we were dating at BYU, but we do have three teenage children to prove our age. I guess there's no denying it.
We don't usually give each other gifts to celebrate our anniversaries, but this year I made a little something special for him as a surprise. It doesn't really make a lot of sense without knowing the back story, so here it is:
A few weeks ago I attended the wedding of some friends. The gentleman performing the ceremony took a moment to pass on some advice to our friends as they began their marriage. He said that when he wed his wife, years ago, he was told that whenever he was asked how long they had been married, he should always say, "Not long enough." We all chuckled, but that really touched my heart.
It is such a simple and perfect way to express how I feel about the wonderful man with whom I have chosen to go through life. No matter how long we have been together, it will never be long enough. We will both always want more. More growing up and growing old together. More strengthening each other in the bad times and celebrating together in the good. More dinners with our kids and date nights without them. More chatting in bed every night before we fall asleep. More laughter and more tears. {Maybe a few less tears, if I'm being honest . . .} The good, the bad, and the ugly. More of it all.
I made this simple little printable that I could place in a simple mirrored frame and put on his bed-side table. {Or put on my bedside table and let him take another copy for his desk at work!} Just a quick daily reminder that we're in this together, forever, and that this lifetime will never be long enough to contain the love I have for him.

It's not much, but it's the thought that counts, right? I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have spent 18 years with this guy!
Have a great day!
