What. Have. I. Done?!

I got a phone call today. Out of the blue. From the assistant to the OWNER OF THE CHAIN OF GYMS FOR WHICH I WORK. Based on the murals I painted in my club, he (the owner) wants to hire me to design and paint ALL THE MURALS IN A NEW CLUB THEY ARE BUILDING! How have I gotten myself into this? And can you tell these are CAPS of panic and not glee? I have to work on some themes and sketches this weekend and meet with him sometime next week to discuss the project.

Two thoughts: Prayers are answered. So be very careful what you pray for. AND, I may need to double up on my anxiety meds for the next week or so.

Deep breaths.

  1. Amy, that is so awesome!!! If I know you like I think I do, you are the perfect woman for the job--creative, organized, talented, and a perfectionist at her art. I KNOW you will do a great job on this!! I will be thinking of you and praying for the creative juices to flow freely! :)

  2. Breathe, 2, 3, 4, and out 2, 3, 4. Breathe, 2, 3, 4, and out 2, 3, 4. I find that Lamaze breathing helps me much more outside the labor and delivery room than it ever did while delivering a baby. That is stinking fantabulous. YOU CAN DO THIS!

  3. What an incredible opportunity. Scary but incredible! That will be a big undertaking but you CAN do it. Your other murals were amazing. Just make sure they pay you what you're worth. AND, just make sure this doesn't prevent you from coming for Christmas!!!!!!:)

  4. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
You are amazing. You are talented. You are perfect for this job. You have proven yourself time and time again. I know the stress. When I first started catering, meeting with the clients was the worst. My advice: Be confident. Be prepared. Don't hesitate to say, "let me go over these things and get back to you with a quote."
Let me know if you need anything! (don't be ashamed of extra anxiety meds - I have needed more this week with the father-in-law in town)...

  5. You'll be great, Amy. And just remember that they (probably) wouldn't ask you to do it if they had someone who could do it better... they don't. It's all you, baby! Pictures, pictures, pictures.

  6. Two pieces of advice:
    1) walk in and paint like you've done it forever and they hired the best - which is exactly what they did
    2) Charge them big bucks to re-emphasize the fact that they hired the best.
