I Must Be Livin' Right . . .

I think I've used that title before, but I have such fond memories of my mom saying that as I was growing up and it felt so very apropos tonight.

Sometimes things just have a way of working themselves out. All the stress I was feeling last night has proven to be unfounded. I went up to paint at 5:00 this morning, so that I could leave at noon to go vote. I ended up painting until 1:00, and I got so much done I feel really good about actually finishing at some point. I made it home in 40 minutes (without speeding, thank you) which is kind of impossible. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't done it. Anyway. I made it to my polling place and found . . . drum roll . . . NO LINES!!!!!! I had turned in my ballot and driven home by 2:05. This was truly a blessed day. Now, as I watch the local news reports of hours-long lines at other polling places -- even here in Chandler, I feel a little bit guilty that things were such a breeze for me. But, hey, I'm not the one who divided the precincts unevenly. And why don't I deserve a break once in a while?!

I can't wait to see who wins, but I can't watch the coverage this early. I'm already sick to death of the speculation and premature conclusions. I guess I'll have some really interesting talk radio to listen to on my drive tomorrow morning.

  1. I had the same experience. I was in and out of the voting place in like 5 minutes. My brother had to wait in a two hour line...he did get to be on the news though. I was bummed that I had to miss the coverage because of good old Target. Such is life I guess.

Thanks for leaving a comment. I try to respond to every one, even if it takes me a little while!
